Obituary for Matthew Logsdon

Matthew Logsdon
LOGSDON, Matthew, 42, of Louisville passed away Wednesday July 6, 2016 at Norton Suburban Hospital.
Born in Owensboro, he was a Firefighter at the Lexington Fire Department for 10 years and was previously at McMahan, Harrod’s Creek and Worthington Fire Departments. He was a volunteer coach for Jeffersontown and Lyndon Pewee football leagues, was a DeSales football fan, and volunteered for Farmer Elementary School. Matt was an avid UK fan and a KY Colonel. He helped volunteer in New Orleans following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Matt helped sign into law Senate Bill 195, on February 25, 2016. It created a presumption of a death in the line of duty and eligibility for a lump sum death benefit for firefighters who obtained certain types of cancer.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bob Fenwick.
Matt is survived by his loving wife, Jessica Nix Logsdon; children, Hayden, Patrick and Maggie Logsdon; mother, Sissy Fenwick; sister, Beth Lash; sister-in-law, Jana Troutman (Mark); his brother-in-law, Ricky Nix (Mary Beth); parents-in-law, Rick and Patti Nix; father, Darrell Logsdon; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at Northeast Christian Church, 9900 Old Brownsboro Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Highlands Funeral Home, and from noon to time of service at Northeast Christian Church.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Federal Order of Firefighters, 219 E. 3rd St., Lexington, KY 40508.
