We are all sorry to hear of Ed's passing, without Ed we would not have had the chance to visit Louisville and participate in the Mockingbird spring soccer tournaments as referee's these past few years. Ed Yates was one of the greatest persons I ever had the pleasure of knowing. With Ed you always knew where you stood and if he was pleased you knew it and if he wasn't you would that as well. The greatest thought that I had about Ed was his fairness in dealing with all the refs at his tournaments. It didn't matter him who you were he would place you as you were in line. He was very proud of the fact his son became a lawyer, as well as loving his family. I always thought of Ed as a great friend. He will be missed by all. Sam Hayward
