BOYER, Isabel Oller, 95, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Nazareth Home.
From age 8-11, she lived in an orphanage that eventually became known as Brooklawn and was the first female to serve on their Board of Directors. After graduating from Atherton, she worked many years for the American Bureau of Shipping. She was an active member of on the Propeller Club and the Business and Professional Women’s of Louisville Club. Throughout her life, she and Edward welcomed children from the orphanage into their home and also took them on outings. Being the first woman to serve as a foreman on a grand jury in Jefferson County is also something that was dear to her. Most recently she lived at Belmont Village where she was happily involved in her community.
Isabel was preceded in death by Edward, her loving husband of 66 years.
She is survived by her nephew, Douglas Pedigo; cousin, Lynn Miller; and several nephews and a niece.
Family and friends would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Nazareth Home, specifically Taquita Vaden and Dr. Jane Cornett for their expertise and kindness.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 pm Tuesday, August 30, 2016 and 10 am Wednesday, August 31st at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Funeral service will follow at 11 am Wednesday. Burial will follow in Penn Run Cemetery.
